The ALTA RUTA DE LOS PERDIDOS is a demanding high mountain trek; it is recommended to have prior experience in similar activities.
It is the trekking of the Pyrenees par excellence. Change of landscapes in each stage, impressive mountains with stories of great mountaneers on both sides of the border, the southernmost glaciers in Europe that agonize, offering us an impressive spectacle.
Waterfalls, woods and rivers. Without a doubt it is an adventure trekking paradise.
6 days and 6 nights. A circular route around the Monte Perdido and Vignemale massifs. It’s directed at those who would like to visit the town of Gavarnie and its spectacular cirque.
3 days and 3 nights. High mountain trek recommended only for experienced trekkers who are in good physical condition. Thought out for those who want to enjoy one of the Pyrenees’ wildest routes over a shorter time span.
Directed at people that have some past experience in hiking and who would like to go on a beautiful high mountain trek for two or three nights.
Mountain refuges are sport focused installations destined to facilitate mountaineering in general. They are usually located in the mountains in the most beautiful and remote spots. Thanks to the people who work there we can eat, drink and gather our strength for the next day. They are places where people get together once they have finished the day’s stage and are great places to talk about our interests and to make new friends. Please bear in mind that to have a beer or a soda in one of them is luxury. A refuge is not a hotel, nor a bar or a restaurant…. But they are one of the lodgings with the most stars you will ever see.
We run the Alta Ruta company to give you up-to-date technical information on mountain conditions, to facilitate reservation procedures in each refuge as well as to save you time. We’re also here to keep track of you while you’re en route and to act quickly in case of an emergency, as well as to award your accomplishment with an exclusive gift when you’ve finished. But above all we’d like to help us all on our way to be a collective that loves and respects the mountains and the Pyrenees.
Our job is to make your stay at the refuges as comfortable as possible, but we also want to point out the difficulties involved in high mountain provisioning. These are remote buildings that require complex management and where most of the time electricity is generated autonomously, if in fact there is any at all.
This doesn’t always provide us the commodities most people are used to. We believe in this Project thanks to those of you who choose us, because with this monetary contribution the Alta Ruta de los Perdidos is made possible.
We’re growing Little by Little, learning along the way. Thanks to those who hire us we can preserve la Alta Ruta, and keep offering the whole world a quality high mountain tourism in one of the most beautiful surroundings in Europe. This fills us with happiness and satisfaction.
